    Wadworth brewery

    Brewery re-location

    About the project

    What did we do?

Having worked with the Brewery for over 50 years and three generations, we were delighted to undertake the building contract for their relocation to a state-of-the-art brewery on Folly Road. Substantial works within the brewery and yard areas were required, as well as full refurbishment of existing offices.

Wadworth & Co Brewhouse & Visitor Centre

    brewhouse and visitor Centre

    About the project

We took the Wadworth & Co Brewhouse and visitor centre and transformed a piece of brewing history into a modern masterpiece!

Our team undertook the thrilling and rather complex challenge of constructing a brand-new brewhouse and visitor centre within the heart of a fully operational Victorian brewery.

Not only were we able to give their facility a complete upgrade, setting the stage for the business’ next chapter,  but we were able to complete the project on time and on budget.

    Preserving Heritage

This wasn’t just another construction project; it was a delicate balance between preserving brewing heritage and creating cutting-edge facilities.

The Victorian architecture demanded respect and extra consideration as we worked. The designs for the renovation required a careful balance between honouring the Victorian origins and delivering something spectacular, modern and innovative.

    Business as usual

As the Wadsworth facility remained fully functional, it was paramount that there was no disruption to operations. Coordinating construction schedules around active brewing cycles, managing logistics in tight heritage spaces, and ensuring zero disruption to production required military-level planning and execution.

Our team navigated narrow corridors, worked around massive brewing vessels, and choreographed every delivery and installation with surgical precision.

    New Warehouse

    About the project

We were appointed to deliver a brand-new warehouse and office facility, designed and constructed to the highest architectural standards. This project was a key investment for our client, requiring a building that was not only functional and durable but also reflective of their professional identity.

    What Did We Do?

From the early stages of planning, our team worked collaboratively with consultants and the client to ensure that every detail of the design was carefully considered. The warehouse was built to provide a modern, spacious, and efficient environment for storage and operations, while the adjoining office space offered a comfortable, well-equipped setting for staff and visitors alike.

High-quality materials and construction methods were used throughout, ensuring both longevity and low maintenance requirements. Particular attention was paid to creating a structure that balanced practicality with aesthetic appeal, incorporating thoughtful design elements that made the facility stand out as more than just a standard industrial unit.

The project was delivered on time in December 2014, a testament to the skill and dedication of the Gaiger Brothers team. By meeting both programme and quality expectations, we provided our client with a building that continues to serve their needs effectively and efficiently.

Brownfield redevelopment and adjoining office conversion

    About the development

We made the decision to relocate to Kenner House on Northgate Street, to support the growth of the business. Our old building, a former joinery with adjoining parking site, offered a great opportunity for a brownfield development in the heart of Devizes.

    A showcase of Passivhaus capabilities

We decided to comprehensively redevelop the site to deliver 9 new houses, with a contemporary feel and built to Passivhaus standards. These methods of ultimate energy efficiency combine intelligent design, high levels of insulation and air tightness to deliver houses with ultra-low energy demands.

The ingenuity of Passivhaus creates homes that are able to maintain a comfortable temperature all year round with minimal energy use for heating and cooling, leading to lower utility bills and a reduced carbon footprint.

    Office Conversion

Our land development team, supported by our long-standing team of planning, design and technical consultants, have a comprehensive knowledge of the planning and development process. We have a proven delivery record of successful projects delivered across a range of sites.

We work with a wide range of landowners from private individuals to larger organisations, and our company structure and sound financial basis enable us to work flexibly and make decisions without delay.

    A Central Location

Converting a brownfield site in the Devizes town centre came with a challenge. With thorough planning completed in advance of the development, we were able to take them in our stride. Brownfield developments, though often a little more complicated, offer fantastic opportunities to bring new life to disused, central plots within towns and cities.

    Market town infill development

    About the development

This thoughtfully planned infill development represents a perfect blend of modern living and traditional market town charm.

After identifying and acquiring this strategically located site, we transformed previously underutilised land into a distinctive residential community comprising four carefully designed new homes.

The development features a diverse mix of properties, including contemporary houses and bungalows. This variety ensures the development appeals to different lifestyle needs, from young families seeking spacious family homes to those desiring single-level living with all the benefits of modern design.

    Northgate Gardens development

    Location

Located within walking distance of Devizes town centre, residents can enjoy the convenience of local amenities, shops, and community facilities while maintaining a peaceful residential setting.

The development’s prime position offers the best of both worlds, easy access to urban conveniences without sacrificing the tranquil atmosphere that makes market town living so desirable.

    The Result

Our commitment to high-quality design and construction is evident throughout, with attention to detail in both architectural aesthetics and build quality.

By maximising the potential of this previously overlooked site, we’ve created homes that enhance the local streetscape while providing comfortable, contemporary living spaces that will serve their communities for generations to come.

    The Old Brewery

    About the development

Following the company’s relocation to Kennet House on Northgate Street, we redeveloped our former premises.

Our comprehensive redevelopment of this town centre site included the conversion of our former store’s building. Originally a brewery, we transformed the Northgate site into 10 stylish apartments alongside the restoration of our offices into a large townhouse. The renovation also involved the demolition of an old timber shed to make way for 4 new build mews houses.

This development was extremely challenging. The constrained nature of this town centre site location required us to work with additional sensitivity with the original buildings as well as remaining conscientious of the wider area.

After nearly two years of challenging work, the site has been successfully transformed into a fine example of a historically sensitive town centre development. The project made excellent use of previously underutilised brownfield land, bringing new life to the area while respecting its heritage and architectural character. The result is the creation of high-quality and thoughtfully designed homes that blend with their surroundings.

    The Keep, Le Marchant Barracks

From the 18th century to the 21st century

    About the development

We brought new life to a historically significant, disused military building in the very heart of Devizes by undertaking an innovative redevelopment project.

Originally constructed in the late 18th century, this former military structure had fallen into a state of disrepair after decades of neglect. However, rather than allowing this piece of history to be lost, we saw an opportunity to preserve its architectural heritage while adapting it for modern-day living.

    Key Project Info

    • Location: Devizes, Wiltshire
    • Size: 0.4 acres, delivering 13 units
The hallway in The Keep, Le Marchant Barracks, a development by Gaiger Brothers.

    Restoration

The building was carefully restored and converted into thirteen thoughtfully designed contemporary apartments, each crafted to blend modern comfort with the character of the original building.

Great care was taken to retain and showcase key historical features, while introducing high-quality finishes and energy-efficient systems suited to 21st-century standards.

Bringing it into the 21st century

In a bold contrast, a new penthouse was added to the roof, designed with an aesthetic that complements rather than competes with the historic details of the building. This addition not only maximises the potential of the building, but also offers views across the surrounding landscape.

The development stands as a proud example of how historic preservation and modern architecture can coexist, bringing new life to a cherished local landmark.
