  • Residential Refurbishment Project

    Residential Refurbishment Project

    Residential Refurbishment Project

    About the development

Our team recently completed a comprehensive exterior renovation of a private residence, blending contemporary design with lasting durability. Every aspect of the project was approached with precision and care.

The existing render was meticulously removed and replaced, transforming the façade into a crisp, clean canvas that radiates freshness and modern elegance. This careful process ensured that the new finish not only looks striking but is also built to withstand the elements for years to come.

To introduce warmth and character, the garage elevations were clad in high-quality cedar. The natural timber finish adds a tactile, inviting quality to the home’s exterior.

The completed project reflects a harmonious balance between style and resilience, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to high-quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and thoughtful design. The result is a property that stands out for both its aesthetic appeal and its enduring performance.

    Townsend Farm Yard

    REDEVELOPMENT OF FORMER DAIRY UNIT

    About the development

We consulted extensively with the village community enabling us to secure local support for this redevelopment proposal to transform a redundant farmyard into a high quality development for 14 new homes.

Following the closure of the dairy unit in 2021 we entered into an option agreement with the landowner to explore the future redevelopment of the site.

Due to Poulshot being designated as a ‘small’ village in planning policy terms, there was no underlying supporting policy context for new housing in this location. However, we took the view that a well-designed housing scheme, delivering localised benefits and supported by the local community, would form the basis for a strong case to secure planning permission.

    CONSULTING WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

    Identifying key issues

We spent time engaging with the immediate site neighbours, the parish council, local Councillor and wider village community. Through this consultation led approach we built up an understanding of the key issues as identifed by the local community. This enabled us to design a redevelopment proposal that positively responded to these concerns, delivering:

    • excellent design quality across the scheme, enhancing the character of the Conservation Area and incorporating exemplary sustainable construction features
    • an appropriate scale and mix of new homes, including affordable homes responding to identified local needs
    • local highway improvements including new footway and footpath connections joining up existing provision improving the existing village circular walk, a new bus stop and a new village gateway feature to encourage reduced traffic speeds
    • a substantial reduction in impermeable area compared to the existing site and the introduction of a Sustainable Drainage System, reducing runoff and surface water flood risks, and improving resilience to local flood risk concerns
    • signifcant landscape and biodiversity improvements, achieving an +85% Biodiversity Net Gain through the removal of extensive concrete and buildings and design of a comprehensive site landscaping strategy

    Community Support

    Key scheme benefits

The quality of design and package of key scheme benefits, alongside being able to secure the support of the local community, resulted in a planning officer recommendation for planning approval which was then unanimously supported at planning committee in August 2024.

    Land off Lavington Lane

Planning achieved for 50 new homes

    About the development

We wanted to bring a community-focused approach to a new development in West Lavington.

We promoted the site for residential development through the Neighbourhood Planning process for West Lavington and Littleton Panell before securing an outline planning consent for 50 dwellings, with a high level of community involvement throughout. This ultimately resulted in this site being selected as the single preferred housing site to serve this Large Village, which benefits from a good range of facilities and services including primary and secondary schools which are within an easy walk of the site.

    • Status:
Complete: planning secured in 2021, site sold to Hayfield Homes in 2022

    • Size: 7.9 acres, delivering 50 units

    Community First

    Consulting with the Neighbourhood

During the Neighbourhood Plan consultation process, it became clear that there was broad understanding amongst the community about the positive impacts that new development can have on the village including:

    •  The type of housing needed for the village: a good proportion of affordable, accessible and small to medium sized family homes.
    • Increasing village numbers to help support the village’s facilities including Dauntsey Academy Primary School, the village shop, doctor’s surgery and public house.
    • Additional monies secured through Community Infrastructure Levy: 25% of the CIL monies would come directly back to the parish.
    • Reduced traffic congestion by creating a new access to the neighbouring primary school and a dedicated school car park/ drop off facility.

After securing outline planning consent in September 2021, the site was sold to Hayfield Homes in 2022 and who are now building out the site with site sales from Spring 2023.

    Redeveloping a brownfield site

    About the development

We transformed the former Lucent Technology Works site into an exceptional residential development that seamlessly blends contemporary living with the natural beauty of its established woodland setting.

This thoughtfully planned collection of stylish homes represents a perfect example of sustainable brownfield regeneration, breathing new life into a previously industrial location while preserving its mature landscape character.

The front exterior and gardens of properties in The Spinney development.

    Location

Located approximately one mile south-east of the historic market town of Malmesbury, this exclusive development comprises ten carefully designed houses positioned on what was once the car park of the former Lucent Technology Works employment site.

The strategic location offers residents the perfect balance of peaceful countryside living while maintaining convenient access to Malmesbury’s rich heritage, local amenities, and transport links, with access to the M4 being just 15 miles away.

    Working with the Environment

Our development approach prioritised environmental responsibility and community integration.

Rather than clearing the site entirely, we worked sensitively within the existing mature woodland landscape, ensuring that established trees and natural features were preserved and incorporated into the overall design scheme.

This respect for the site’s natural assets creates a unique living environment where modern homes are nestled harmoniously among towering trees and established vegetation.

    The Result

Following our acquisition of the site, we collaborated closely with local planning authorities to refine and enhance the original planning consent. The result is a development that feels more like a natural evolution of the landscape rather than an imposition upon it.

Each of the ten houses has been crafted with attention to detail and quality. The homes offer spacious, light-filled interiors with thoughtfully planned layouts that cater to modern family living while taking full advantage of their location.

    St George’s Works

    Trowbridge brownfield development

    About the development

Trowbridge, the county town of Wiltshire, has been pursuing regeneration efforts to make use of disused and underutilised land within the town.

In support of this, we bought the St. George’s Works plot, a disused former textiles mill. We sought to create 30 new flats, parking and a new storage building. The development also allows for a new access route to be created for park maintenance and event vehicles.

    Luxury Appartments

For the development, we created a modern complex of 24 luxury apartments to bring more residential space to the town centre.

The majority of the apartments were created as two-bedroom flats with open-plan living spaces and balconies to offer private outside space and views over the newly opened community garden and Trowbridge Park beyond it. The building also hosts a gated car park area for residents.

    Converted Office building

In addition to the primary plot overlooking the park, we also converted an adjacent office building. We were able to create 6 additional apartments, developed with a similar modern design.
