  • The secondary entrance to 17th-century Donyton House and surrounding gardens.

    Donyton House

    House refurbishment

    About the project

    What did we do?

This project was an extensive refurbishment that involved the careful restoration and sensitive extension of a dilapidated 17th-century house. The original property, with its historic charm and character, had fallen into a state of disrepair, requiring meticulous attention to both structural integrity and aesthetic preservation. The aim was to breathe new life into the building while maintaining its historical significance, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern luxury.

The refurbishment encompassed a comprehensive overhaul of the existing structure, the restoration of original stonework, and the replacement of outdated and deteriorated materials with high-quality, sympathetic alternatives. In addition, a carefully designed extension was added, seamlessly integrating with the original architecture to create additional living space without compromising the building’s historical essence. Every detail, from window fittings to interior finishes, was chosen to reflect the character of the 17th century while introducing contemporary elements that enhance comfort and functionality.

The outcome is a truly remarkable residence that balances history and modernity. The home now offers a luxurious and spacious environment, featuring bright, open-plan interiors, state-of-the-art amenities, and elegant finishes throughout. Original features such as exposed beams and period fireplaces have been beautifully preserved, providing a sense of continuity with the past, while the new extension allows for modern living in a way that feels natural and unobtrusive.

This project stands as a testament to the transformative power of thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship, demonstrating how a once-neglected historic property can be revitalised into a stunning, high-end home that meets contemporary lifestyle demands while celebrating its rich heritage.

The result is a home that is not only functional and luxurious but also full of character and charm, offering an exceptional living experience for its owners.
